Tips for sea salt usage:
- Add sea salt to frozen food to speed up defrosting.
- Soak fresh tofu in salt water for a few seconds before frying to prevent it from breaking up.
- Adding a pinch of salt to a dessert can enhance the sweetness.
- Drink a glass of sea salt water to soothe a sore throat.
- Drink a glass of sea salt water when eating Durian to prevent a sore throat.
Sea salt vs Table salt
Table salt is mined from underground salt deposits. It is heavily processed to eliminate trace minerals. It is therefore not as flavourful as sea salt. Additive, anti-caking agent is added to prevent clumping.
However regardless of the benefits of sea salt, we should keep sodium consumption between 1,500 and 2,300 mg a day for a healthy adult. People with high blood pressure should aim at lower intake of sodium.
